To the editor:
Residents of Jefferson County, it has truly been an honor to serve as your county commissioner for the past three and a half years. I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to serve and would very much appreciate your vote for me, Republican candidate Tony Morelli, this Nov 5. I have been blessed to meet so many of you and look forward to meeting more of you in the next four years.
During my time in office, I am proud of the accomplishments we have made together. There is still much to do but we are moving forward together. Some of the notable achievements include starting the first broadband task force in our county with the goal of bringing high-speed internet to every citizen in our county, a service that is needed if we want to be competitive in the modern world. Commissioners also directed the construction of a 50,000-square-foot spec building at the county-owned industrial park. This will make it easier for new businesses to come here, bringing quality jobs for our people.
We are presently in negotiations with GSA to sign a long-term lease with Social Security to keep Social Security in the county-owned Tower Building long term, keeping it convenient for seniors and other residents who need the services that they offer.
Looking ahead, I am committed to working with fellow commissioners, department heads and all elected officials with only one goal in mind, and that is to make our county a better place for all of us to live work and play. We have new quality-of-life projects on the horizon -- both walking and riding trails are coming soon. I will continue to support our sheriff, helping supply his department with new vehicles and other updated equipment as needed to enhance the safety of his deputies and our residents. I will continue to be a full-time commissioner, easily accessible and transparent. I have been and will continue to be available to answer any questions you may have.
In closing, I am deeply grateful for your past support and trust given to me during the past three and half years. I humbly ask for your support in the upcoming election so, together, we can continue to move our county forward. I look forward to being able to continue to serve the wonderful people of Jefferson County for four more years. I would very much appreciate your vote on Nov 5. I remain 100 percent dedicated and motivated to continuing to help lead our county, and am proud to be your Republican county commissioner.
Commissioner Tony Morelli
