To the editor:
In this boiling pot of incessant political turmoil, many are voicing dissatisfaction with the policies currently being implemented by our federal government. The loudest, most vociferous plaints heard concern the massive crossing of our southern border by asylum seekers, asylum seekers in quest of opportunity in our great land. These people are fleeing from oppressive countries where such opportunity is denied.
Are the complaints of those in opposition to mass migration justified?
Conservatively speaking, some 7 million such guests have arrived here in the past four years. Their presence is opposed by many, but I say let us welcome them in with open arms.
Why do so many of us begrudge their presence? Opportunity for them most certainly can be found in our labor force, the fruit of which will most assuredly be manifested in healthy economic growth that benefits us all. Sadly, many are vindictively opposed to these newcomers who are willing to work for a substantially lower hourly pay rate than that which many well-established citizens of the United States have been accustomed to receiving.
Shame, shame on you --lower wages on a large scale will most certainly result in lower prices for goods and services for all of us, all the way around. Let the asylum seekers then come and let us embrace them with open arms. And until they achieve gainful employment, let us ensure they are sheltered and fed. If you have room to spare, take them in.
Many contend prices will stay high, regardless of whether the newcomers work for a lower wage, and they frustratingly pule over prices at the gas pump and in the grocery store. Puling over prices at the gas pump -- can you imagine that? Aren't you sick and tired of having to put up with their plaintive whining? "My money is no good anymore," they lament.
Look, pal, your wages have gone up too, maybe not quite enough to outpace or even keep up with inflation, but high enough for you to still enjoy a few brews as you listen to some blaring music. Just count those extra bucks in your wallet and quit your whining. Be grateful for what Uncle Sam has done for you.
Now as to which political party can best implement the means by which our newcomers become acclimated, there is but one choice -- a one-and-only choice -- and that is the Democrat Party. Disdain those nervous-nelly Republicans -- they would have you believe the country is falling apart. Forget them.
With our beloved Democrats firmly in control of our affairs, we may extend an even greater welcome for oppressed people all over the world to come here. The more the better -- generosity knows no bounds. Ultimately, the United States should realize an unheralded greatness, previously never imagined.
Vote Democrat to ensure this happens.
