President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill in 1914 designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. This day was dedicated "to the best mother in the world, your mother." (The Old Farmer's Almanac, 2021). Presidents since then have remembered this day as a special day to honor all mothers.
A woman can become a mother through giving birth or adoption. All mothers, living and dead, are honored on this day. How did Biden honor our mothers on this Mother's Day?
Biden chose to release a despicable commercial filled with lies about his opponent in the November election. I have seen this commercial and find it repulsive. According to a report by Mick Farthing, Biden called on mothers to "Stop Trump." Biden's commercial contained lies about what Trump would do to women if elected again because Trump "stands only for himself and not mothers." He claimed Trump will "monitor women's pregnancies and rip families apart." Biden's campaign has distorted the facts about Republican states' pro-life laws. They also are continuing the lie that Trump separated illegal immigrant families which was implemented by a policy from Obama and ended by Trump. Biden claims that Trump will "punish women who have abortions." (Make America Great Again News, May 13.)
Biden and the Democrats want us to believe that women's health care is only abortion. Women's health care involves prevention, health promotion and treatment of diseases. When a woman goes to her gynecologist, her vital signs are taken and she receives an examination from a health care professional. It includes a professional breast examination along with the pelvic examination. Tests such as mammograms and dexa-scans can be ordered. Treatments can be given for many problems such as STIs and osteoporosis. Birth control is only a small part of the examination. If the health care professional is also an obstetrician, prenatal and postpartum care is included. As one can see, women's health care is comprehensive care. It is not limited to abortion and is available to women of all ages.
Since Roe v. Wade was discontinued, each state must develop its own laws about abortion. Trump has repeatedly stated that abortion laws are up to the states. Abortion has been on the ballot in many states, so abortion at different stages of pregnancy will be available. If a woman's state does not allow abortion at a certain stage of pregnancy, the woman can find another state where she can secure her abortion.
There is no reason that abortion will not be available in this country and no woman will be punished for getting an abortion. As for traveling to another state, there are many means of transportation to get from one state to another. Women no longer have to go by wagon train to get to another state.
I was appalled at the way that "good Catholic" Biden used Mother's Day to promote his abortion at any stage of pregnancy stance. Thankfully the despicable ad is not running anymore.
