To the editor:

A letter published a few weeks ago disparaged Donald Trump. The first section of the letter talked about "Trump's Bible." ("Trump's behavior not Christian-like," April 6.) The writer called this Bible "his Bible." She does not have the facts about the God Bless the USA Bible, which is the Bible that Trump was endorsing at his rallies.

The God Bless the USA Bible was developed by singer songwriter Lee Greenwood. It is reminiscent of his hit song, "God Bless the USA" which was first played 40 years ago and is played at many events in which we celebrate our country. The Bible contains the King James version of the Bible with the addition of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Pledge of Allegiance and the hand-written lyrics of the song "God Bless the USA". The Bible was first published in March 2022. These are the facts about this Bible. I heard this information while I was watching an interview with Lee Greenwood on NewsMax. As can be seen, this is not "Trump's Bible."

The timing of Trump promoting this Bible during the holiest time in the Christian faith may have to do with the fact that people turn to religion during the Easter season. In my Catholic faith, new members are received into our faith community during the Easter vigil Mass. Their sponsors or loved ones may want to give them a gift with religious significance. A Bible is an appropriate gift for these types of occasions.

The writer then spewed more hateful untruths about Trump. Trump wanted to build a wall to keep people from illegally entering our country. My grandparents were all legal immigrants who came through Ellis Island. Their health and their credentials were evaluated when they arrived there. Once admitted to our country, they found their own housing and employment.

People who enter our country illegally did not go through the screening process that my grandparents endured. We have no idea if their papers are fraudulent or what kind of communicable diseases they are carrying. Many terrorists have tried to enter our country and FBI director Wray has warned that we are in more danger than before the terror attack on 911.

I heard Trump say several times that he wants to keep Medicare and Social Security. Biden and the mainstream media are lying when they say he wants to get rid of these benefits for our citizens.

The writer concludes her letter talking about "people who go to church on Sunday and the rest of the week agree with 'this wannabe' (Trump.)" God gave us churchgoers eyes, ears and a brain and the Bible teaches us right from wrong. Those of us who attend church and support Trump use our eyes and ears to watch and listen to him and our brains to analyze what he says. We don't need Trump-haters telling us what to do.

Trump-haters get their (mis)information from the mainstream media and Wikipedia. I suggest they try primary sources to get the truth.
