Hypocrisy of House Republicans

2 min read

To the editor:

Republican members of the United States House of Representatives, following a 15-month-long investigation, and counting, in an attempt to find an impeachable offense against current President Joe Biden, reportedly have discovered no such evidence that would serve to implicate that Biden had committed high crimes and misdemeanors that could lead to his removal from office.

The alleged wrong-doing committed by Biden, as per House Republicans, is based on the unsubstantiated, and now disproven, assumption that Biden, during his tenure as vice president under President Barack Obama from 2009-2017, had somehow profited, personally, from overseas business dealings orchestrated by his son, Hunter, and his brother, James Biden.

However, after extensive research and investigations, it has been determined that President Biden did not financially benefit, nor did he personally influence, any such business dealings conducted by his aforementioned family members.

In addition, it was recently revealed, that the basis of the Biden impeachment investigation was based primarily on what has been determined to have been strictly based on fake information spread by Russia (a Trump ally), which has been completely disproven.

Recently, after all of this time and negative speculation and publicity against President Biden, House Oversight Chairman James Comer stated that impeachment might not be pursued after all.

In such matters, it is not appropriate that irrefutable evidence is discovered and revealed early in the process, prior to a potential suspect being so charged, making it quite obvious that such action was based strictly on political motivations by House Republicans.

In comparison, consider former President Donald. J. Trump, who ignored the long-established Emolument Clause that prohibits such elected officials from personally benefiting as a result of person business deals while in office, which, unquestionably, Trump did to excess, including receiving a minimum of $7.8 million from foreign countries, including adversarial nations, in order for them to curry favor from the then-president through his properties.

Recall also that during the final days of the Trump presidency that the Trump family business arranged a $2 billion deal with U.S. adversary Saudi Arabia, which was negotiated by Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

It sadly, obviously appears that the vast majority of the House of Representatives are quite hypocritical, placing politics over country and the rule of law.
