To the editor:
I am responding to questions I have been asked about the operation of the Mingo Senior Center meal site prior to my retirement in 2020, and I would like to set the record straight.
The Mingo Junction site was shut down, along with eight other congregate meal sites, due to COVID. There was no audit against Prime Time that resulted in the site being closed.
An issue had arisen in the past about food distribution, which was addressed. This issue was resolved and there was no interruption of services. All congregate meal sites had site managers employed by Prime Time to receive, maintain at proper temperatures and serve the lunches. Registration of those receiving services as required at each site. Prime Time trained the employees and provided oversight.
Hopefully, congregate sites can be reopened, because socialization is very important to the older population.
