To the editor:
The board of trustees of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County offers and welcomes public commentary at its board meetings.
The board meets monthly to conduct library business that includes an overview of finances, services, and reports from the county-wide library system's branches and departments. A public comment period is included at each meeting.
To have balance in conducting business and listen to the community, the public comment period was reformed, passed and announced in October. The new policy went into effect in December and can be read on the library's website in the "News" section.
Additionally, the public is invited to address the board, each month, by form of a letter. It can be mailed to the Main Library, hand delivered to any branch location or e-mailed to the mainlibrary@seolibraries.org
A public library provides information for all people and the library's board of trustees support the library to fulfill that mission.
