Pressure must be applied

2 min read

To the editor:

I was listening to an interview with Mark Glyptis, USW Local 2911 president, about the International Trade Commission ruling of four individuals who voted unanimously in favor of illegal dumping of Tin in the United States.

During the interview, Glyptis mentioned some things that were very interesting.

Paraphrasing him, he stated that he was by the union hall and could see Main Street. He saw trucks with coils that were wrapped differently and knew they were foreign. He followed them and saw them being placed into warehouses in the area. A question to be asked is what is going on with the USW International and Cleveland-Cliffs? The union members should have been notified by the international when the illegal dumping first began -- that is their job to look after the interest of the union brothers and sisters and the company.

I would think someone would have informed the international about what was going on. According to Glyptis, once a ruling is given, the only one who can overturn it is the president. When this ruling by the ITC was given, the international should have gone right to Biden and demanded he overturn it.

For some reason this was not done. When asked about calling Trump for help, he stated they were going to do that sometime in the coming weeks.

This ruling by the ITC needs to be fixed -- now. According to Glyptis there are 900-plus workers involved. I am sure they have families and need to know they have employment.

Pressure needs to be put on the international and Biden.
