To the editor:
A recent writer explained her reasons for leaving the Democratic party ("Why I left Democrat Party," Dec. 17.) I left for the same reasons and more. I didn't even vote for Ronald Reagan, that's how brain-washed I was. But then along came the Clintons, both bottom feeders who are the epitome of the Democratic philosophy do as I say not as I do.
Eddie Abdalla, chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, tried his best in a letter to tell reasonable, independent-thinking county residents he's proud to be a Democrat, but won't trick anyone into believing otherwise. However, the letter is replete with slight of word misdirection ("Proud Democrats fighting for you," Nov. 26.)
The Democratic Party supports the working class? Have they seen latest interest rates, heating costs, grocery prices, rents, service fees, and restaurant prices? They'll try to convince us we're doing just fine. Matter of fact, we never had it so good thanks to where-am-I-Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown.
Democrats say their party is diversified, champions of the disenfranchised, underprivileged and poor. One can see what their definition of diversity is, hire by the boxes one checks, not by qualifications. How's Democratic diversity working out? Ask Anheuser-Busch, Target, Disney, the Harvard--icon of the Poison Ivy League--president who resigned due to plagiarizing more than 50 scholarly works of others. Democrats want our county to emulate San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. They support policies that'll pay drug addicts to put up a tent city in Fort Steuben park, people stealing up to $1,000 from stores without consequences, get out of jail free cards for violent felony criminals and allow 305,000 illegal aliens, terrorists, into America in December.
Here are a few reasons why people are abandoning the Democratic Party:
If conservatives don't like guns, they don't buy one. Democrats don't like guns, they want them outlawed. If conservatives are vegetarian, they don't eat meat. If Democrats are vegetarian, they want all meat products banned. If conservatives are down-and-out, they think about how to better themselves. A Democrat looks to who they can get to take care of them. If a conservative doesn't like a talk show, he or she changes the channel. A Democrat will demand the show be shut down. If a conservative needs health care, he or she shops for it or gets a job providing care. Democrats demand the rest of us pay for theirs. If a conservative is a non-believer, he or she doesn't go to church. A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God or Jesus silenced.
The writer asserts Democrats pledge allegiance to our flag. They do -- look at our southern border. He writes, "If you were once a Democrat … We'd … welcome you back." If you were once a Democrat, conservatives won't hold it against you.
Ivy League students are making their parents proud: Forty-eight percent don't know what river and sea are referred to when they shout "From the river to the sea." Twenty-eight percent don't know who Yasser Arafat was and 10 percent thought he was first prime minister of Israel.
