To the editor:
The Toronto Coalition would like to thank all who assisted with the 31st-annual Toronto Light-up Night on Nov. 21 at the Gazebo. This would include the businesses, organizations and individuals who gave generously to the event.
It's a list that includes Anderson-Campbell Insurance, Clarke Funeral Home, Foster Funeral Homes, Heritage Complete Home Care, Jefferson County Cable, Jimmy I. Elia, William C. Lucas Sr., Main Street Bank, Paul's Pizza on Fourth, Ridge Machine and Welding, Toronto Eastern Star 215, Toronto Kiwanis, US Bank and Valley Converting.
The rain which occurred that night did not cancel the event nor stop citizens from attending.
Thank you to those who were part of the program: The Rev. Jane Shockley, Frank McEwen, Tom Graham, Jon Greiner, Don Clarke, Jay Foster, Annie Silverthorn and Toronto Elementary students Taylor and Carolina Wolf, Kylie and Mason Newsom and Hayden Coburn for lighting the tree.
I would like to recognize the following: The Toronto Beautification Committee, Toronto First Presbyterian Church, the Toronto High School girls basketball team, Toronto Elementary students who made the tree decorations and Toronto city workers.
Last, but not least, the citizens of Toronto who purchased the luminaria in the memory or in honor of their loved one. There were 350 purchased. This includes those which were purchased by Clarke Funeral Home and Foster Funeral Homes in remembrance of those for whom they provided services this year.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, Kiwanis Coats for Kids, Toys 4 Toronto, Christmas with a Cop, Toronto Student Needs and the America Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
