Support noted by Legion Auxiliary

1 min read

To the editor:

The Steubenville American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 33 wants to thank all the people who volunteered and all the businesses who donated their support to our American veterans Christmas party on Dec. 7.

We had overwhelming support from our Steubenville Police Chief Kenny Anderson and other officers, Capt. John Lemal of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force and Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr.

The opening prayer was led by unit Chaplain Susan Fisher and the national anthem was led by Brandi Helinski. The veterans were entertained by a group of senior members of the Hollywood Ukulele group and harmonica players. The Wells Academy fourth-grade students sang and hand gestured Christmas carols.

The veterans were served a luncheon and received a bag of gifts presented by active-duty Marine Cpl. Kaleb Waggoner. Santa Claus gave all the students candy-filled candy canes. We want to thank M&M Hardware, Wheeler Funeral Home, Naples Spaghetti House, Mosti Funeral Home, Patera Pizza, Malta's Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Everhart-Bove Funeral Home and the Polish Athletic Club for their generous support for our veterans.

Thanks, again, on behalf of the officers and members of American Legion Unit No. 33.
