Pressure to tip is out of control

1 min read

To the editor:

Check this out -- it's back in the news again, "tipflation." A recent report out said Americans are being pressured to tipping.

Also, according to pymnts.com, in an article dated Monday, reported 34 percent of consumers say the pressure to tip is out of control.

First it is inflation, and how the prices of consumer goods have risen during the past year. Second, we have shrinkflation of food packages that have been reduced during the past year. And now there is tipflation from tip-suggestion order screens, Door Dash pre-tip and convenience charges. More and more Americans wondering how much to tip -- or whether or not to tip at all.

Here is a free tip: When it comes down to it one should tip what they feel the service was worth to them and not feel pressured by the percentages displayed on the screen. I yield back any balance of loose change that may be left over.
