To the editor:
For the record, Gen. Mark Milley, who recently resigned from his position as the highest-ranking military officer as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for our great nation, following approximately four years total in the aforementioned position, which included one year and four months serving under then-President Donald Trump, the esteemed military leader has revealed just how difficult it had been for him to serve under Trump.
It has been reported that Milley "guarded our republic from a president (Trump) who threatened constitutional underpinnings of the American way of life." This from an individual (Miller) who had a very close working relationship with Trump, as have few others.
It is strongly believed by Miller, as well as many others who were in positions of high official authority at that time, that Trump was capable of ordering to attempt any heinous violent act in order to stay in power, including having the military stage an insurrection on his behalf, or even have the United States attack one of our greatest international rivals, China, in order to somehow remain in the White House.
As a result, Miller informed the Chinese that he would see that such would not occur in order to ease rising tensions and, as a result, Trump has stated that Miller was "guilty of treason and should, therefore, be executed," simply for placing the American people above the wishes of an autocratic, self-centered president.
Also, it has been revealed that at the swearing-in ceremony for Milley, that the general had, respectfully, scheduled to have a disabled veteran sing at the ceremony and, as a result Trump disturbingly asked Milley: "Why do you have people life that (disabled veterans) here?"
Totally disrespectful and un-American.
In addition, recall as well that the iconic Republican Sen. John McCain, who was a true U.S. war hero, having been awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross for his gallantry in his service to our great nation during the Vietnam War, whose plane had been shot down by the enemy and, as a result, was captured and spent five-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war, including three-and-a-half years in solitary confinement, was likewise disrespected by Trump, who stated that he only honored those who served in our nation's military "who were not captured."
Trump also has referred to those who have sacrificed and perished serving to protect our country as "suckers and losers."
All this, as well as much more, coming from an individual who failed to serve in our nation's military as a reported result of bone spurs, but where are the X-rays to confirm that such did, indeed, exist?
When will this individual (Trump) finally be held accountable for his disrespectful and unpatriotic words and actions?
