Amendment wrong way to go

2 min read

To the editor:

I am writing in regards to the amendment to Article 1 of the Ohio Constitution concerning reproductive freedom, which might be on the ballot in November.

This proposed amendment is supporting Big Pharma and it is not written in the interest of the health and safety of women at all. The pill which induced an abortion will devastate the health of a woman who uses it. It is not natural, but artificial. We know from the many ads displayed on television and social media that medications being advertised have side effects that can cause suicidal thoughts, cancer and other harm to a person's body.

Yet, we are shown pictures of happy, healthy people who have taken the advertised "medicine."

This abortion pill will enslave woman to be dependent on the lie of the abortion business that life will be wonderful if the pill is taken and the baby is exterminated.

At this point, it will be helpful to refer to history. Margaret Sanger, who was a racist and who was involved in the eugenics movement rooted in white supremacy, asked what could be done to curb population. She went on to set up the American Birth Control League, which is now called Planned Parenthood, in Brownsville, N.Y., in 1916. She stated that some thinking persons would oppose her endeavors to curb the population.

Now, what this proposal is doing is giving more latitude to physicians who support abortion to terminate life and keep the profits from abortion intact.

You will notice that the proposal emphasizes the judgment of the doctor who is performing the abortion.

In the end, it all boils down to money and the love of money at the expense to our humanity. Also, if the physician is making the final decision, where is the woman's right to choose?

This is not a liberal or conservative issue -- it is a human issue.

Please vote no on the amendment of Article 1 of the Ohio Constitution.
