In her letter "Abortion rights fight far from over" (Jan. 21), Marjie DeFede proclaims being Catholic and upset that a local fundamentalist Catholic group opposes NOW's murderous ways. She asserts NOW Catholics are moderates, yet believe it's fine to kill a baby in the womb, which is contrary to their faith. They should not make excuses or compromise with sin, stop telling themselves lies and rationalizing. These members claim murdering the innocent and terminating pregnancy at any stage, is a woman's right. "My body, I do what I want, look out for myself," is their creed, seems somewhat self-centered, narcissistic and god-like. These Catholics spout "I vote my values." Their values are not the same as the Catholic church.
I'm sure the Catholic members receive the Steubenville Register, the diocese newspaper.
Did they read the Register's article "Diocesan pro-life Catholics participate in the 50th annual March for Life?" DeFede states "Local anti-abortion groups can charter all the buses they want, march all they want … We won't stop until women are no longer second-class citizens …"
Why are some people so upset and even violent and vulgar against the Catholic Church and those who believe life is sacred? They should contemplate the quote from the pope on Page 11: "God suffers when we, who call ourselves faithful ones, put our own ways of seeing things before his … allow the judgment of the world rather than those of heaven …?
Do NOW members condone attacks on churches, believe in DNA, believe males who are impersonating females should shower together and drag queens should be talking about sexuality to preschoolers?
She writes the Supreme Court is going against the "wishes" of the American people. That's the problem with -- some people don't understand the court's decisions are based on the law, not wishes.
