We’re giving up free speech

To the editor:

I am in receipt of a letter, unsigned, of course, urging me to stop writing against the agenda of the progressive element in society. It denigrates my Catholic faith, questions my I.Q. because of my religious belief and urges me to raise my level of intelligence above the “level of my ankles.”

Like St. Augustine, who prays to the light that defeats spiritual darkness, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in you,” every individual is hardwired by the creator to contain some modicum of worship, even the left-wing secularists, who usurp the very idea of God and apply it to themselves. “Our narcissistic culture has chosen self-worship over divine worship.” (The Rev. George Rutler; “A year with Father Rutler,” Volume 2.”) Therefore, any who deny their claim to ultimate power and oppose their iniquity must be considered an enemy and, at minimum, marginalized into less-than-full citizenship.

There is a marked effort to remove any public discussion of Christian morality from the public sphere, and with the help of major media outlets to proclaim religious belief as right-wing fanaticism.

This secular left now controls all three elements of the federal government, and in the proposed policies of this current, self-important administration one can witness the effort to habituate the population into “getting little things from elected officials in exchange for one’s moral dignity.” (Rutler, ibid.)

In exchange for the above-mentioned government sops all one has to do is give up free speech and support the removal of conscience protection for medical personnel. Any public opposition to abortion, the destruction of the nuclear family, promotion of gender identity disorder and the quest to instill it in school children, or quoting certain parts of the Bible, especially St. Paul, will be met with the punitive power of government.

With the threat of an expanded and abusive hate crime law, this political element, disciples of the powers of darkness, wishes nothing more than Christians be returned to the Roman Coliseum.
