Stay safe around swimming pools

Pool season is here, and the sounds of people playing in the water are a sure sign that the summer season is really heating up. But the fun of playing in the water can quickly turn tragic. Almost 400 children younger than age 5 drown every year in swimming pool accidents across the country, and more than 3,200 go to a hospital emergency room after a near drowning. A child can drown in 2 inches of water in under five minutes and never make a sound. Bill aims to stop business scams

Ohio businesses have enough challenges on their hands without having to deal with pervasive scams and fraud attempts. But Buckeye State lawmakers are working to help protect them, with efforts such as Senate Bill 98. The measure is meant “to address fraudulent business filings, deceptive mailings, reinstatement of canceled business entities, and addresses of statutory agents.” This being the Ohio Legislature, SB 98 will also “make changes regarding property taxation, fire investigator firearms, acting or assigned judge reimbursements, common pleas clerk of court duties, ...

Our students deserve better

It appears Ohio still doesn’t do a very good job of assessing and monitoring the non-public schooling options available to families.
