Food, fun and friendship will be on the menu in multiple ways for Tri-State Area residents this weekend as two local favorite festivals make their return to Weirton.
Friday sees the return of the Weirton Greek Festival. In its 35th year, the festival is organized by All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, bringing a selection of traditional cuisine and music to the community. While the option to preorder meals is over, there will still be the chance to purchase some of your favorites -- super gyros, grape leaves, baklava and more -- at the church from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Grecian Keys will perform from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
While the festival has been smaller in recent years, it continues to be a highlight for many in our community.
The festivities continue Saturday with the third Weirton Food Truck Festival, set for noon to 9 p.m. at the Weirton Event Center.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Weir High School Class of 2023, assisting with expenses for their prom and other activities. A newer event, the Food Truck Festival was started by a group of Weir High parents as a fundraiser for their students. It features a variety of food trucks and carts, along with games, vendor booths and live entertainment.
These are two of our many local events which provide an opportunity for residents near and far to come together and celebrate our communities and culture.
