Vincent J. Marshall Jr., 82, died unexpectedly in the afternoon on Monday, October 12, 2026. He was the son of the late Vincent Marshall Sr. and Kathryn Sanders Marshall of Steubenville. He is preceded in death by his sisters Margaret (Florenzo) and Kathryn (O'Leary), and his brother Terrance.
Growing up in the north end as a St. Peter's kid, Vince had a strong family bond that lasted all his life.
He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1962, and from the College of Steubenville in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart in June of 1966, and shortly thereafter began a 26-year career with the IRS. After retiring, Vince continued to provide tax services to family, friends and the Steubenville community.
When his children were young, Vince donated much of his free time to coaching numerous St. Peter's School sports and Little League teams, and volunteering with other parishioners to 'fix what needed fixing' in the school, rectory and church buildings. He was honored and proud to be among those who built St. Peter's adoration chapel.
A great man. Easy-going and good natured. Vince was quick to offer a helping hand and share a cup of tea. Irish through and through, He was a great storyteller and loved sharing family folklore with his grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Popp Marshall; his five children, Molly (Erik) Dervis, Gretchen (Tom) Brooks, Rachel (Karl) Lamar, Vincent Marshall III (Joseph) and Stephen (Danielle) Marshall; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren (with one more arriving December). In addition, Vince is survived by his siblings Mary Smith. Sally Romey, Joe, Ellen DelFiandra and Mike, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
