Ralph was born in Steubenville, Ohio on November 27, 1939, son of the late Ralph and Veronica Edwards.
He is survived by his sister Nadine Wenner, children Mike (Audrey) Edwards and Laurie (Scott) Blackburn, stepsons Mike (Kim) Miranda & Larry (Bobbie) Miranda; grandchildren Chris, David, Kelsey, Zach & Jake; a growing collection of great grandchildren; and by his former wife Beverly with whom he shared 31 years of marriage and 44 years of friendship.
Ralph was raised in Toronto, Ohio and graduated from Toronto High School in 1957. He got his start as an engineer working for the Jefferson County Engineer's Office supervising new road construction in Steubenville. After attending Ohio University and gaining additional work experience with Western Electric and NCR, he enjoyed a long, satisfying, successful 35-year career with Delco Products/ General Motors. Over the course of his career, he was awarded over 16 patents for automotive systems, specializing in the development of energy absorbers, retractable antennas, and windshield wiper & rain detection systems.
Ralph (Dad, Granddad) will be deeply missed by his family & friends.
Fond memories include boat outings on the Great Lakes and family get-togethers at the cabin in Canada. In the days before cell phones, Ralph always had his SLR camera on hand. We're thankful for his collection of 35mm slides, which preserve all those good memories and stand as a testament to the love and pride he had for his family. Ralph also loved to drive and work on cars, especially Chevy Corvettes. He was a stalwart fan of Ohio State football, and a history buff, particularly around the Civil War and World War II eras.
A private memorial service will be held on a future date for close family & friends at the Toronto Cemetery. Tributes & condolences may be offered at www.clarkefuneralhome.com.
