Louise Zahardis Munis passed peacefully with her family by her side in Chicago on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the age of 97. She is the daughter of the late John and Vassiliki Saffo Zahardis. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Nick and sister Toula Zahardis Pedos.
Louise was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where she frequently served as president of Daughters of Penelope as well as Philoptochos Society as well as secretary of the board of Holy Trinity. Louise was often baking and serving at the church for the Greek festivals. Louise volunteered at St. John Medical Center. When the Fort Steuben Mall opened she worked at Kaufmanns as the T-Fal Demonstrator for cookware. Before that Louise worked in her parents restaurant, The Sugar Bowl in Mingo Jct.
Surviving are son George (Debbie) Munis of Dunlap, TN; two daughters Joan (Tony) Colak of Cincinnati, OH and Beverly (Les) Cheruvathoor of Lincolnwood, IL; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; nieces and nephews as well as two great nieces and one great-great niece.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 12 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
