ELVIRA PULICE

Elvira Pulice, 91, of Weirton, WV, a devoted wife, loving mother, nana, bisnonna, and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Elvira was born on December 18, 1934, in the picturesque village of Belmonte Calabro, Italy, one of six children born to Michael and Rosa Pate Pulice.

In 1970, Elvira immigrated to the United States, bringing with her the cherished traditions, strong family values, and deep faith of her Italian heritage. Although she made Weirton her home, she never forgot her roots, preserving the customs and traditions of her homeland and lovingly passing them along to her children and grandchildren.

Elvira was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Together with her beloved husband, Salvatore “Sam” Pulice, she built a life centered on faith, family, and love. They were blessed with seven children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous joy and pride to her life.

A fabulous cook, Elvira expressed her love through the meals she prepared. In true Italian tradition, everything was made from scratch, with recipes, techniques, and a special touch that could never quite be duplicated. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and memories were made. No one ever left her table hungry, and there was always room for one more.

When she wasn’t busy in her kitchen, Elvira could often be found tending to her garden, taking pride in the vegetables and flowers she lovingly nurtured. She especially treasured the time she spent watching her grandchildren, finding her greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by those she loved.

Elvira was a faithful member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, where she nourished the faith that guided her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore “Sam” Pulice, on April 22, 2018. She also endured the heartbreaking loss of her son, Joseph Pulice, on December 13, 1999.

In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Elvira was preceded in death by her siblings, Alberto (Carmela) Pulice, Giacomino (Elena) Pulice, Litizia (Salvatore) Pulice, and Maria (Giuseppe) Conforti.

She will be remembered with love and admiration by her three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Capito, Rose Pulice, and Maria Pulice; her three sons, Settimio (Helen) Pulice, Frank (Patricia) Pulice, and Dino Pulice; her sister, Olinda (Paul) Conforti; her nine grandchildren, Dr. Anthony (Britney) Capito, Melissa (Danny) Fuchs, Stephanie (Jon) Berardinelli, Sam Michael Pulice, Lanie (Eric) Wilson, Summer Pulice, Christopher Pulice, Michael Pulice, and Nathaniel “Diggy” Pulice; and her seven great-grandchildren, Caiden Capito, Elizabeth “Libby” Fuchs, Caroline Fuchs, Sarah Fuchs, Emery Berardinelli, Brooks Berardinelli, and Sienna Berardinelli.

Elvira’s life was a beautiful reflection of the values she held dear: faith in God, devotion to family, hard work, and the importance of caring for one another. Her greatest legacy will not be measured in possessions or accomplishments, but in the generations of family she lovingly nurtured, the traditions she preserved, and the countless memories created around her table.

Though her place at the family table will now be empty, the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the traditions she passed down will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.

Entombment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery Mausoleum.
