DR. WILLIAM S. GRANT

Dr. William S. Grant, 76, of Steubenville, passed away on October 11, 2026 at Weirton Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Grant leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of good work. He will be forever remembered for his healing hands, his gentle spirit and his giving nature.

He was born on November 26, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After earning his undergraduate degree in Biology from Edinboro University in 1971, he went on to earn his D.P.M. from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976, and subsequently completed residency at Saint Luke’s & Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, which would prove to be the launching pad for a long and ultra-successful career in podiatric medicine.

On July 1, 1978, he married the love of his life, Carolyn (Belotti) Grant, and together they raised three children Julie, Billy, and Tony, who were his pride and joy, and made the Steubenville area their home.

For more than 50 years, Dr. Grant brought healing to his beloved patients through his work in podiatry. His beautiful bedside manner extended far beyond the walls of his office and the hospitals. He bestowed his loyalty and compassion upon everyone he loved. He made everyone feel at home with him.

Dr. Grant was a pioneer in the field of podiatric medicine. He became the first podiatrist in Steubenville to receive surgical privileges at the local hospitals. He was Board Certified in Lower Extremity Surgery, and held licenses to practice in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He held staff privileges at Weirton Medical Center for more than 32 years. In addition to his Wintersville office, he maintained an office location at West Penn Hospital for more than 20 years. Although he was far too humble to boast about it, Dr. Grant earned multiple Best of the Best Reader’s Choice Awards from the local newspapers. His proudest accomplishment in the profession came in 2018 when he welcomed his son, Dr. Anthony Grant, as his partner in practice at his Wintersville office.

While Dr. Grant was incredibly passionate about his life’s work, his greatest love in life was his family. There was nothing that made him happier than seeing his wife and kids happy. They were his everything and he is their forever hero.

He was a devoted and active member of Triumph of the Cross Parish and the former St. Pius X Parish, regularly attending weekend mass and serving on Parish Council. He enjoyed relaxing walks, gardening, reading, traveling, canning tomatoes and cooking his legendary sauce for pasta dinners on Sundays. His unfailing generosity was always readily apparent. Anyone who shared a meal with Dr. Grant at his home knew they would never leave hungry, and anyone who ate with him at a restaurant would have to wrestle the check away from him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Frank S. Grant, and wife, Angeline Grant; his loving in-laws, Joseph and Evelyn Belotti; He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Carolyn Grant; daughter, Julie M. Grant; son, William S. Grant, Jr.; son, Dr. Anthony W. Grant; and sister, Joyce Grant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Triumph of the Cross Parish. Viewing will be held Thursday, October 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville. Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 16th at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and Fr. Paul Hrezo will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
