Everett L. Skinner, Sr., 86, went to be with his Lord on July 31, 2026, passing peacefully at Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio.
Everett was born at home in Richmond, Ohio, on September 7, 1939, the beloved son of William and Iva Skinner. He lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to his family.
Everett was the devoted husband of Claire (Bruno) Skinner. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, and cherished memories until Claire's passing in 2021. Their enduring commitment to one another was a beautiful testament to the love they shared.
A man who believed in the value of honest work, Everett spent his entire career working with his hands. He began as a diesel mechanic, where he developed a reputation for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. Through years of commitment and leadership, he advanced to become Service Manager at Western Branch Diesel, where he was respected for his knowledge, fairness, and willingness to help others.
Faith was the cornerstone of Everett's life. He was a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church in Weirton, West Virginia. His quiet faith, humble spirit, and commitment to God guided him throughout his life and were reflected in the kindness, compassion, and integrity he showed to others.
Everett found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors, but his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by family. Family gatherings were treasured occasions filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will continue to be cherished for generations. He also enjoyed playing board games, creating special moments of connection and fun with those he loved.
Everett was known for his quiet strength, gentle nature, generosity, and dependability. He found fulfillment in caring for others, working with his hands, and living a life of purpose and service. His legacy is one of faith, perseverance, humility, and love for his family.
Everett was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Claire (Bruno) Skinner, in 2021; their first-born daughter, Pamela Altieri; granddaughter, Diana Skinner; his parents, William and Iva Skinner, and 3 sisters, Dolores, Carrie, and Leona.
He is survived by his children: William Skinner and wife Karen of Steubenville; Janet Valentine and husband Mark of Fairview, Texas; and Christina Lanham and husband Eric of Niles, Ohio.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jenny, Katy, Antionette, Layne, Olivia, Montana, Joshua, Nathan, and Ryan; as well as 13 great- grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 7, from 4-6 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, Ohio 43953.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 10 a.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nazarene Church in Weirton, West Virginia.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio, for the compassionate care they provided during Everett's final days.
Though he will be deeply missed, Everett's life remains a lasting example of faith, hard work, love, and quiet dignity. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the generations of family who will continue to share the love and lessons he gave them.
