Shelba Gross, 88, of New Cumberland, passed away on July 1, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1937, the daughter of the late Dean and Mary Langfitt. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Cole and a brother, Jerry Langfitt.
Shelba was a true Mom in all respects, she formerly worked at Weirton Steel in the Office. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, she formerly served hot lunch for Hancock County Schools and she was a member of the Just Friends Card Club for over sixty years. She was kind hearted and a good friend but the most important thing in her life was being a Wife, a Mom and a Grandmother. Her love lives on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Everett Gross, a daughter, Jeri (William) Zeigler, of New Cumberland; two sons, Phillip Gross of Weirton and Jason (Dawn) Gross of Fairmont, a son-in-law, David Cole, of Ohio; five grandchildren, Jesse Zeigler (Brandy), Justin (Whitney) Zeigler, Amanda Bartley and Chris (Nicole) Cole and Gabriel; six great-grandchildren, Auna, Emerson, Freya, Grayson, Jackson, and Madalyn.
Family and Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 12 pm to time of funeral service at 2 pm. Interment will be at Union Cemetery.
