MERCEDES CALDERE’
Mercedes Caldere’, 93, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Meadows of Cadiz. She was born in Barcelona, Spain on July 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Joaquim Pont & Lucrecia Vinolas Pont. Mercedes was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish at Holy Rosary Church.
Preceding her in death were husband Manuel Caldere’ daughter Roser Williams; son-in-law Timothy Williams; brother-in-law Julian Camino.
Mercedes is survived by her daughters Ana (Joe) McGurn, Montse (James) Vittitow & Angelica (Donald) James; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother Oriol (Aline) Pont; sisters Teresa Pont & Angels Camino; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday, May 10, from 3-6 p.m.
Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Monday, May 11 at Holy Rosary Church, 280 Rosemont Ave., with Rev. Matthew Gossett officiating. Burial at a later date in Dayton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, Mercedes requested that memorial donations be directed to Aim Women’s Center, 248 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, OH or Elizabeth New Life Center, 2201 N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45405.
