Following his military service, Gene dedicated 40 years of his life to Weirton Steel Corporation, where he worked as a crane operator and later in the Blacksmith Shop. He was a proud member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment.
On September 16, 1961, Gene married the love of his life, Anna Mae, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, where they also baptized their children. They later raised their family at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Weirton, and in more recent years became faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Weirton.

They danced regularly for many years at the Colliers First Church of God dance hall, creating cherished memories and lifelong friendships.
Outside of work, Gene found great joy in gardening. He was especially known for his tomatoes and zucchini, which he generously shared with neighbors, friends, and family. His garden was not just a hobby, but a reflection of his kindness and quiet generosity.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Gene lived a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to God and his family. Even in death, he continued to give to others through the donation of skin grafts to help burn victims, reflecting his enduring generosity and compassion.
