GLENDA STAVROULAKIS
GLENDA STAVROULAKIS
Glenda Faye Stavroulakis, 86, of Hanover Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center, with her youngest daughter Diana Lynn by her side. May her memory be eternal.
Born on June 18, 1939, in Langeloth, Pennsylvania, Glenda was the daughter of the late Truman and Bernice McCarty Holland. She was predeceased by three infant brothers.
On November 29, 2024, Glenda lost her Beloved Husband of 62 years, John Stavroulakis.
Glenda was a proud 1957 graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown, where she was the Head Majorette of the marching band and was the first majorette to thrill the fans by twirling a fire baton. After graduation, Glenda met the love of her life, John Stavroulakis, at the square dances held at the Frankfort Springs Grange. They got married on March 11, 1962, and built the home of their dreams in Hanover Township where they raised their two daughters and enjoyed a wonderful life together.
Glenda enjoyed working and interacting with the public. Throughout her life she was employed as a teacher’s aide at the former Hanover Elementary School, a secretary at The Franciscan University of Steubenville, and the Office Manager of the Burgettstown Enterprise Newspaper. Prior to her retirement at age 80, Glenda had the privilege and honor to work for Dr. George Mascio Dentistry in Paris, Pennsylvania, for 20 years until Dr. Mascio retired. From the onset, the Mascios became extended family to Glenda and the Stavroulakis family.
Glenda was known for her radiant personality and joyful presence. She carried herself with elegance, always impeccably dressed, and shared her beautiful smile freely with everyone she met. She was a Faithful member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, a member of the Philoptocos Society and a member of The Cretan Club.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Cristol Stavroulakis (Tim Lentz), of Tampa, Florida; Diana Lynn Stavroulakis, Esquire, and grand-dog Demetria Argero Stavroulakis, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sister-in-Law Mary Stanley of Sacramento, California; and many nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, West Virginia, with Father Matthew Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Florence, Pennsylvania, where Glenda will be laid to rest beside her beloved John.
In preparation for the Easter celebration, Glenda baked traditional Greek Easter bread, Kourambethes and Koulourakia, just as she did every year, which she left for her daughters. In the Eastern Orthodox faith, the day following Easter–Bright Monday, or Renewal Monday–is a continuation of the joy of the Resurrection, a day marked by light, hope, and fellowship. It is especially fitting that Glenda’s life, so full of love, brightness, and joy, will be honored on this day.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, West Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be made in Glenda’s memory to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV 26062, or to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
