CHRISTIANA ACHEBE
Christiana Achebe passed away peacefully on, Saturday, March 21st, 2026 in Virginia. She was a Christmas baby, born December 25th, 1944 in Awka, a town in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Here in the US, she earned a BA in accounting from William Patterson College and attended Rutgers University law school. She married her love, Ifeanyi Achebe, and they had 3 children together.
Her faith and love of God was evident in her daily life and interactions with everyone around her. Christiana was what her daughter described as a woman of the people where in addition to her family, her mission in life was to serve those in need in whatever capacity she could. She had a love of cooking and was well known for inviting anyone into her home and cooking for them, sharing her culinary skills and Nigerian cuisine.
She is survived by her sister Pauline who resides in Lagos, Nigeria and her brother Peter. In addition, her 3 children– daughter, Nkechi, son, Chinedu, and daughter Ify. Daughter in law, Lauren, and grandchildren Jamison, Magdalena, Eve-Elyse, Zapporah, and Meka.
She will be missed by many. In her native Igbo language, Ijele nwanya, a gorgeous woman, a beautiful soul, aptly describes the life and person of Christiana Achebe.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Additional visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, a funeral liturgy with Mass will follow at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Gossett will celebrate. Entombment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friends are invited to a repast meal which will be held Friday following the funeral at Franciscan’s Finnegan Fieldhouse from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
