EMMETT LANTZ

Emmett L. Lantz, 95, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Mary Jane Brooks Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

He was born on June 25, 1930, in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Emmett E. Lantz and Jessie (Manning) Lantz. He was raised in Follansbee and graduated from Follansbee High School with the Class of 1948.

Shortly after graduation, Emmett proudly answered his country’s call to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. His time in the Marines was a source of great pride throughout his life, and he carried with him the values of discipline, loyalty, and service — Semper Fi.

After returning home, Emmett began working for the family dairy at Lantz Dairy which later became part of Modern Dairy, where he became a familiar and friendly face delivering milk door to door throughout the community. He took great pride in his work and truly enjoyed the daily interactions with the families he served.

Emmett was a devoted member of Follansbee United Methodist Church, where his faith remained an important and guiding part of his life. He faithfully attended worship services and many other church events. He was also an active member of the Follansbee Lions Club, supporting numerous community projects and enjoying fellowship with fellow members. As part of his service, he regularly collected used eyeglasses from area businesses each month, helping provide the gift of sight to those in need.

In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his wife, Carole (Allsopp) Lantz and a son, Richard Lantz.

Emmett is survived by his daughter, Karen Fierbaugh and her husband, Michael of Bowerston, OH. Grandson, Jeremiah Fierbaugh and his wife, Mary Sue and their children, Elijah, Ava June, Maya Ruth and Emmett. Grandson, Luke Fierbaugh and his wife, Tabitha and their children, Wyatt, Kenzie and Garrett. Also, his beloved fellow members of the Lions Club and church family.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and again on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with his grandson, Jeremiah Fierbaugh, officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Follansbee United Methodist Church, C/o James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037 or bring an old pair of eyeglasses to donate to the Follansbee Lions Club.
