DELBERT FURBEE
Delbert E. Furbee, 91, of Hammondsville, OH, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home.
Delbert was born May 18, 1934, in Port Homer, OH, son of the late William and Minnie (Haught) Furbee.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn J. (Lutton) Furbee in 2018; son, Tim and his wife, Janice Furbee; granddaughter, Daryl Ann Burkey; son-in-law, Ted “Buzz” Cooper; sister, Alma Butler; and brothers, Leroy, Daryl, Ronald, Glenn and infant brother James.
Delbert was a dedicated member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was president of the Methodist Men and a volunteer with the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. He was always the first to arrive on Sunday mornings and enjoyed greeting everyone and handing out the bulletins.
He worked at the H.K. Porter/Swank Refractory Brickyard in Hammondsville for 27 years before transferring to the W.H. Sammis Plant, where he worked in maintenance until his retirement in 1992.
Delbert was a past member of the Stanton Ruritan Club. He coached Little League for many years, and followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians.
Delbert leaves behind his three children, Gene (Stephanie) Furbee of Wellsville, OH, Cindy Cooper of Toronto, OH, and JR (Jennifer) Furbee of Hammondsville; sister, Patsy Conrad of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Frances Furbee of Toronto; grandchildren, Scott (Heather) Furbee, Jake (Natasha) Furbee, Aubrey (Troy) Eblen, Luke (April) Furbee, Joe (Candy) Furbee, Tabatha Rockhold, Travis (Bree) Furbee, Becky Huff, Justin (Megan) Cooper, Brian (Kate) Furbee, and Brittany Furbee; 34 great-grandchildren; and several great- great-grandchildren.
Visitation is set for Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 3-7 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, where services will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Seth Filburn will officiate, with burial to follow in the Hammondsville Cemetery.
