Robert Samuel “Bobby Sam” Vojvodich, Sr. 79, of Weirton, WV, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday January 27, 2026.
He was born on January 7, 1947, in Steubenville, Ohio, one of two sons born to the late Peter J. and Elizabeth Salada Vojvodich.
Bob graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School in 1964 and began his working career at Weirton Steel at just 17 years of age. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country in France as a member of the Military Police.
Upon returning home, Bob resumed his employment at Weirton Steel. Known to many friends in the mill as “V.O.,” he spent 38 years with the company. His career began on the Weirton Steel Railroad and concluded at the age of 55 in the B.O.P. Robotics Lab.
In 1993, Bob married Brenda Browning. Together they shared many adventures, especially Bob’s favorite pastime–traveling by car. He loved to just go, never needing a plan or destination. He also enjoyed golfing and playing the slots at Mountaineer Gaming Resort and Wheeling Island.
Above all else, Bob will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man. He was deeply family- oriented, always willing to help anyone in need, and took great pride in caring for his home, where his green thumb was well known. Bob was a member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Aaron R. Vojvodich.
He will be remembered with love by his wife, Brenda Vojvodich; his son, Robert Samuel Vojvodich, Jr.; his daughters, Valarie (Bobby) Kittle and Elizabeth “Beth” Vojvodich; his brother, Pete (Diane) Vojvodich; and his three grand- children, Ryan Vojvodich, and Bryden and Avery Kittle.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
