KAY KENNEDY

Born on February 13, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Chalmer Chaddock and Odessa Close.

Kay graduated from Carrollton High School in 1953. She was very independent, meeting life with strength and determination. She loved spending time playing cards with her friends, moments that brought her great joy. An avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan, she proudly showed her devotion by naming her beloved cat “Cutch” after her favorite player, Andrew McCutchen.

She was a woman of deep faith, living each day as a devoted Christian guided by God’s word. Her church was an important part of her life, and she faithfully served as an elder at the Presbyterian Church in Hopedale, Ohio.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Mary Carol (Charles) Garlinger of Hopedale; son, Jeffrey (Tracy) Kennedy of Kilgore; five grandchildren, Andrew (Jennifer) Garlinger of Hopedale, Emily (Jeffrey) Chisnell of Cadiz, Alec (Beki) Birtcher of Dover, Eian (Brandi) Birtcher of Dover, and Adam (Sydney) Birtcher of Canton; and great grandchildren, Maddison and Brycen Chisnell, Parker, Joshua, Mason, Sam and Ophelia Birtcher. .

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Chaddock (1947); her sister, Mary Stringer (1964); very close niece, Carol Raber; and nephews, Donnie and Jim Stringer.

A Memorial Service for Kay will be held Saturday, January 10, 2025 at 1 p.m. in Hopedale United Presbyterian Church in Hopedale, Ohio. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services in the church. Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton assisted the family with arrangements.
