HARALD “HARRY” BERNARD OEN

Harald “Harry” Bernard Oen, 85, of Richland, Michigan passed away at home on November 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born on March 4, 1940 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Johannes and Alfa Oen.

Harry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he worked on missile guidance systems. His service took him abroad to Hahn Air Force Base in Germany during the Cold War. Following his service, he worked as a dedicated electronics technician in avionics logistics for Honeywell for almost 30 years. His career took him to live across the country: from Greenville, SC to Lake Charles, LA to Columbus OH, then to Eglin and McCoy Air Force Bases in Florida. While at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, he met and married Marjorie. His work continued to take them to Anchorage, AK, South Florida and High Point, NC before they finally settled in Minneapolis, MN to raise their only child Elizabeth. Harry later committed 20 years to the United States Postal Service, working briefly as a letter carrier in South Minneapolis before returning to his roots as an electronics technician at mail distribution centers in Minneapolis and Columbus, OH. During those years, he and Marjorie returned to Ohio, where they lived for 15 years before finally retiring and moving to Michigan to be near Elizabeth and her family.

Harry had an incredible baritone voice and enjoyed performing during his school years, time in the Air Force, and in retirement. This voice was never to be missed in church. He loved to sing to his grandsons and along with them too. He was fond of world history and tinkering at his work bench. Throughout his life he was known for his strong work-ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and innate ability to problem solve complex circuitry.

Harald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie (Margie Henry) of Richland, Michigan. Also, by his daughter, Elizabeth (Derek) Kreitel of Richland, Michigan, and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron, who will forever carry his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Edmund and Jerry Oen; and his sister, Hanna Wiebold.

Visitation will be held Friday December 5th, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 PM. Interment to immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
