TIMOTHY CRAGO

Timothy Carmine Crago passed away at his home in York, SC, surrounded by his loving family after a 5-year battle with cancer.
Tim was born in Weirton on Dec. 30, 1966, to Donald and Irene Crago. He attended Sacred Heart of Mary and graduated from Madonna High School in 1984. He earned a degree in business and accounting from West Liberty University and worked in large banks in the Charlotte, NC area for many years, where he was known for his commitment to mentoring new employees and upholding ethical standards.
Tim married the love of his life, Tammy (Delong) of New Cumberland, on July 24, 1994, and they raised their three children, Emily, Nathaniel, and Isaac, in York, South Carolina. Tim was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first. His love for them knew no bounds, and his greatest joy was spending time with them and his pets, London and Sophie.
Tim was involved in scouting as a leader and mentor, supporting his sons in achieving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout. Tim’s dedication to his children and his values of hard work, perseverance, and community were evident in everything he did.
In addition to his family, Tim was a man of many interests. He enjoyed painting landscapes; reading about historical events; making mead with his sons; and outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, shooting, and camping. Tim’s quiet nature was often complemented by his wry sense of humor and his large, loving heart.
Tim is survived by his wife Tammy and children Emily, Nathaniel, and Isaac, all of York, SC. He is also survived by his mother, Irene Crago, of Weirton, WV; his sister Sue Crago and her wife Jill Apolinario of Florence, MA; brother Don Crago of Erie, PA; sister Kathy Elliott and her husband Rodney of Morgantown, WV; and sister Renee Jobes and her husband Jim of Parkersburg, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
Tim is predeceased by his father Donald Crago and his brother Chris Crago.
Tim will be remembered as a kind, selfless, and caring man who left a lasting impact on those who knew him. He fought bravely to remain with his family, and in doing so, showed the depth of his love and devotion. His legacy will live on through the memories of his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to colorectalcancer.org or palmettocouncil.org.
A private celebration of Tim’s life will be held at Kings Mountain Preserve with close family and friends.
