LEO SCOPEL
Leo Benny Scopel, 88, of Bergholz, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 12, 1937, Leo lived a full, hardworking life rooted in love, service, and simple joys.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Leo served his country with honor and never lost his deep love for America. After his service, he spent many years working as a coal miner — a testament to his grit, determination, and dedication to providing for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Casamiro and Isabella Scopel, his dear wife Gloria, and two brothers. Leo is survived by his four children, Gino (Crystal) Scopel, Susan (Aaron) Lahman, Tina (Kharl) Schrode, and Thomas Scopel; his grandchildren Joseph and Dane Lahman, Paige Ann and Zachariah Scopel, Cara Denaro; and his precious great-grand daughter Emerson Benny, who brought him endless joy; and two brothers, Attilio (Rosemary) and Eurileo Scopel.
A celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second Street, Bergholz, OH 43908. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life well lived.
