JOHN TRAVIS

John W. Travis, 75, of Wellsville, died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Valley Hospice. He was born August 9, 1950 in Grafton, WV. He is the son of the late William Travis and Flora Lee Losh Bloomfield.

John was retired from Weirton Steel where he worked on the railroad for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV, Finley United Methodist Church, was a lifetime member of the Jefferson County Historical Association and the ASPCA. John loved photography, was an avid animal lover, was an antique collector and he has restored three old houses. He was also an avid fan of the Steubenville Big Red, WVU and Steelers. John was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife Sharon Ross Travis; brother Gary (Theresa) Travis of Steubenville; sisters Ruth Smith of Buckhannon, WV and Mary (Leroy) Annerino of Niles, OH; five nephews and two nieces.

The family would like to thank Valley Hospice for their kindness and compassion during the care of John.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 am until time of services at 1 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Private burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
