ELAINE SNIDER

Elaine Therese Neverly Snider passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Her family mourns her passing but finds comfort in celebrating her freedom from this disease. Her life and her death are a testament to her unwavering faith.

Elaine was born to Charles and Mildred Neverly on Wednesday March 2, 1955. She attended Madonna High School with her five brothers, and soon after attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study fashion. She went on to work for Hornes Department store of Wheeling, WV, drawing fashion ads for the local newspaper. Her other creative endeavors included writing short articles for Christian publications and being an incredibly talented cake decorator.

Elaine married Scott Snider on Saturday October 27, 1979 and they resided in Steubenville, OH where they had and raised two daughters. Their life was full of funny stories, lots of love, and what was most precious to Elaine – her faith in Christ. Elaine was a member of Wintersville United Methodist Church.

Elaine proudly served in her church throughout her life. Elaine was often teaching Bible studies, leading prayer groups, and ministering to strangers – even ones she just met on a plane. Throughout her life and even through the unexpected loss of her husband, Elaine always chose to follow Jesus.

Elaine is survived by her daughters Stephanie Snider & Dominique Keller, and her son-in-law Allen Keller; three brothers Bill (Sondra) Neverly, Allen (Cid) Neverly and Kevin (Jeanie) Neverly all of Weirton. She is preceded in death by two brothers Charles and Robert Neverly.

Her daughters invite you to celebrate her reunion with Scott by attending her visitation that will be held Thursday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until time of services at 11 am at the funeral home, Pastor Clint Quillen, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests the consideration of a donation to Word of Life Panama. Elaine firmly believed in ministries that supported and shared God’s love with children all around the world. Word of Life Panama ministers to local children and communities by providing summer camps, Bible clubs, evangelistic outreach and ministering to orphanages and local tribes. Donations to Word of Life Panama can be given electronically at https://give.wol.org/ location/panama.

Elaine is finally free, and if she were here she would tell you with the biggest smile that “who the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36)”.
