ROSEMOND GARNICK

Rosemond Garnick, 94 of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Pomeroy Assisted Living in Rochester Hills, MI.

Rosemond was born on February 6, 1931 in Toronto, OH, daughter of the late James and Rosina (Grimm) Condrin. Rosemond was a 1949 graduate of Toronto High School. Following high school graduation, she worked as a secretary in the engineering department at Weirton Steel. During her 12 yr. tenure she advanced to become secretary to the VP of Engineering.

She married Joseph Garnick in Sept 1961 and focused on being a wife, mother and homemaker first settling in Wellsburg, WV until they moved the family to Toronto, OH in 1979. Faith and family were an important part of her life.

Rosemond was active in her community. She was a long-time member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and an active member of the church quilting club. She was a member of the Toronto High School Alumni Association Class of 1949 and a member of the Toronto Band Boosters. She was an active member of the Lidramu Society and served a term as treasurer. Rosemond was a wonderful mother and friend. She will be fondly remembered by her children for her love of ice skating, roller skating and dance. We were truly blessed to share her long, active, fun-filled life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Joseph, son, Dr. James J. Garnick, sisters, Clarice Sutter and Mary Rita Owens. Rosemond leaves behind three daughters, Ruth (David) Kane of West Chester, PA, Jane (Steven) Myers, Troy, MI, and Jennifer (Bruce) Call of Bradenton, FL, four granddaughters, Gillian Myers and Jacquelyn Myers of Troy, MI and Alexandra Call and Evangeline Call of Bradenton, FL. She also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Smoljanovich of Weirton, WV and sister-in-law, Bertha Garnick of Louisville, OH along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Pomeroy Assisted Living for the wonderful care and comfort they provided to our mother these past 5.5 years. Special heartfelt thanks to Laura Wisniewski, Linda Sweitzer, Lezette Van Winkle, Katrina Newcomb, Matt Ziemba, MacKenzie Niklas, Aggie Gysin, and many others over the years too numerous to name. Also, thanks to Accent Care Hospice for providing comfort these last few weeks of her life. The family is truly grateful.

A Memorial/ Celebration of Life service officiated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will be held Saturday June 7, 2025 (time to be determined at later date) at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH with inurnment to follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
