PAUL HARBERT Jr.

Paul K. Harbert, Jr., of Steubenville, OH, went home to his Heavenly Father on March 1, 2025, surrounded by family following a hard fought battle with chronic kidney disease.

He was born on May 12, 1967 in Follansbee, West Virginia, son of the late Paul and Cheryl “Darlene” (O’Dell) Harbert. Paul graduated from Buckeye North High School in 1985, earned an Associates Degree from Jefferson Technical College, and then attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. For 22 years, he served and protected his community as a police officer in Steubenville, Ohio. He retired at the rank of Captain after years of distinguished service. During his retirement, he earned a Bachelors and then a Masters degree from West Liberty University.

He was married for 30 years to Johanna, and he was a devoted father to his sons Benjamin and Nicholas. He was proud of all of their accomplishments as he watched them grow into fine young men. He and his boys often watched comedies and horror movies together or played games. He valued education and enjoyed reading and learning about history. He liked spending time with his furry friends, Bear and Chewy.

Surviving are his wife, Johanna (Smith) Harbert and his two sons Benjamin and Nicholas all of Steubenville, OH; a brother Raymond (Jane) Harbert and two sisters Ann (Kenneth Oliver) Harbert and Crystal Harbert all of Mingo Junction, OH; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and two nieces and two nephews.

While he is now with his family in heaven, he will be deeply missed by his family here on earth who loved his smile, his humor, his generosity, his kindness, and his wisdom.

Paul will be cremated and no services will be held at this time.
