JACK KNIGHT
John A. “Jack” Knight, Sr., residing in Toronto, OH, formerly of Empire, OH, passed away March 22, 2025, at his home at the age of 91.
Born on January 5, 1934, Jack was deeply proud of his Cherokee Native American heritage, and it was always his wish to be laid to rest wearing attire that honored this legacy.
Jack was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, where he completed a 9-month tour in Korea. He valued an active lifestyle enjoying time, in his later years, at the Milsop Center. Jack retired from the First Energy Sammis Plant, in Stratton, OH, where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator. His life was marked by his deep connection to heritage and service.
He was preceded in death by his late parents, Albert and Mary Esther Householder Knight, and his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Dukes Knight, who passed Jan. 4, 2013.
Jack leaves behind his loving companion, Elaine; his children, John Jr. (Tracy) Knight of Wellsville, OH, Joseph Knight of Weirton, WV, and Jeffrey (Cindy) Knight of Toronto; grandchildren, Jocelyn Knight, Haley Knight, Tyler Knight, and Aleni (Damien) Knight; step-grandchildren, Derek (Madison) Trifonoff, Joven Piluti, and Trisha (Caitlin) Trifonoff; great-grandchildren, Jude and Tegan Knight. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Services will begin at 2 PM and burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Toronto with Military Honors presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard. www.jefosterfh.com
