DOROTHY WERBECKI

Werbecki, Dorothy Jean Permar, 103, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Continuous Care Center in Wheeling, WV.

She was born February 19, 1921, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Elwood and Beulah Allen Permar.

Dorothy was a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and retired as a seamstress from the former Hal Lewis, and worked in the Millinery Department of Joseph Horne Company in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was a long-time member of Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Friendship Diners & Ladies Day Out. She was also a member of the Oglebay Institute, Oglebay Good Zoo, and Happy Hilltoppers.

Dorothy loved to oil paint and crochet blankets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Floyd Tripp in 1944; 2nd husband, John Werbecki in 1983; two brothers, Everett and Robert Permar; sister, Nancy (Ron) Tingler; sister-in-law, Mary Daugherty; and brother-in-law, Paul Morris.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Donald J. Werbecki of Wheeling, WV and James L. (Diana) Werbecki of Akron, OH; sister, Ruth Morris of Steubenville, OH; two grandchildren, Erik (Lynn) Werbecki of Akron, OH and Bethanne Werbecki of Akron, OH; 2 great-grandchildren, Karleigh and Gage Werbecki; and several nieces & nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 10 AM until the time of service at 1 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Reverend Homer Harden officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
