DAVID SZYDLOWSKI
David Szydlowski, 66, of Steubenville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, November 28, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and ElizabethTarquinio Szydlowski, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Victor and Dorothy Ciancetta, and his brother-in-law Dr. Victor Ciancetta.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Cindy (Ciancetta), his children David (Erin Walsh) Szydlowski and Michael (Lauren) Szydlowski, and his grandchildren Liam, Elizabeth, and Lilliana, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his dear siblings Dr. Walter (Michelle) Szydlowski, Karen (Gary) Hanzel, Rose Szydlowski, his sister- in-law Rita Ciancetta, and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
“Syd” was born and raised in Steubenville and a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1976. He spent 40 years working at the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant, worked at Trinity West, and had recently retired. He loved God and his family above everything and was an avid sports fan.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish and was also a member of the Polish Athletic Club.
The family is grateful to all the staff at Amedisys Hospice, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, and UPMC Shadyside.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3-7 at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.
A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Gossett will preside with Fr. Thomas Marut concelebrating.
