A. THOMAS SESSI

A. Thomas Sessi, age 82, of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 25, 2024.

Born on March 8, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Guido and Josephine (Guatteri) Sessi.

A 1960 graduate of Weirton Madonna High School, Tom excelled academically and athletically, notably scoring the first receiving touchdown in the school’s history. His prowess on the field led him to the University of Notre Dame, where he played football for one season before graduating in 1964.

On May 15, 1965, Tom married his wife, Darlene Marino. Together, they raised four children and joyously welcomed seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter into their family.

Tom’s professional life included years as a salesman at his family’s business, Tom’s Express and later at Weir Cove Moving and Storage. His commitment to community was evident through his active participation at Saint Paul’s Church, where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also contributed his time and leadership to the Weirton Madonna Athletic and School Boards and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3734, and the Ohio Valley Traffic Club..

A dedicated volun- teer, Tom gave his time to the Weirton United Way, Madonna High School and Saint Paul’s Church and School.

A fun fact about Tom, he was the first boy to walk through the doors of Millsop Community Center.

His passions included Notre Dame football, winemaking, and sharing his homemade wine with family and friends. Tom’s warm and outgoing nature meant he never met a stranger, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his infant brother, Charles, and his sister, Dolores Beadling.

Tom is survived by his wife, Darlene; their children, Tina (John) Lesho, Thomas (Cynthia) Sessi, Caroline Sessi, and Anthony Sessi; grandchildren, Katelyn (Matt) Sovine, Kristina Lesho, Giuseppe and Isabella Sessi, Paul Fulciniti, Francesca Fulciniti (Adam Dunbar), and Thomas Sessi and a great granddaughter, Oaklee Dunbar; along with numerous nieces , nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church 10 AM on Monday.

Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch will preside.

Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.

Memorial donations in memory of Tom may be made to Saint Paul’s Church or Grade School or Weirton Madonna High School.
