Gene F. Ciccarelli, 78, former Follansbee resident, passed away January 18, 2023, th The Villages, FL. Gene was the youngest of 5 children born to Anthony and Betty Andriano) Ciccarelli on August 25, 1944. His siblings were Harry, Antonette, Mary Ann and Ralph. Gene loved his life in Follansbee. He attended St. Anthony’s Grade School and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School where he was a star athlete. He received a scholarship to WVU and played standout football for the Mountaineers. Gene then signed with the Miami Dolphins, but an injury put an end to his football career. Gene married the love of his life, Patricia Basil of Weirton. He and Pat had 2 beautiful daughters, Allison and Kimberly. In 1980, Gene and family moved to Plantation, FL. He became Deputy Port Director for the Port Everglades Authority, a job he was passionate about. Later when the Port Director, Jonathan Daniels learned of Gene’s passing, he ordered the Port’s flags to be flown at half mast in Gene’s honor. Pat and Gene had moved to The Villages in 2012, to enjoy their retirement years.
The celebrated their 54th anniversary July 20, 2022. Gene is survived by his loving wife Pat, His wonderful daughters Allison Vido and Kimberly Mummy, his adorable and precious grand children Isabella, Madelyn and Chelsea Vido, and Ava and Ryan Mummy. Also surviving are his adoring sisters Antonette (Toni) Kukura, and husband Walt of Follansbee and Mary Ann Balom of Tujunga, CA and many loving and special nieces and nephews.
In addition to Gene’s parents, he was predeceased by his brothers who were his role models in life, Harry and Ralph Ciccarelli. A celebration of Gene’s life was held February 17th, 2023, at The Villages.
The family states that Gene was a wonderful man, kind, gentle, helpful and loving man and he will be greatly missed. Please remember him in your prayers.
