DOROTHY SILBERMAN
Dorothy Levison Silberman died February 10 in Potomac, Maryland, after a brief illness. She was 84.
She was a Steubenville, Ohio, resident for more than six decades, and together with her beloved husband, M. Alan Silberman, who died in August 2020, she raised her family, was active in the community, and was an officer of Phil’s Stores Inc.
Known to many as Dottie, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred Levison of Zanesville, Ohio. She was an alumna of Zanesville High School and The Ohio State University, where she majored in Speech and Education and was president of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. During a lifetime of devoted service and leadership in her community, she was an active volunteer and officer with Temple Beth Israel Sisterhood, Hadassah, Valley Hospice, the Ohio Valley Hospital “Twig” Women’s Auxiliary, and Planned Parenthood. After her children were grown, she worked in Pittsburgh as a Registered Representative of State of Israel Bonds and as Director of Development for Rodef Shalom Congregation.
She is survived by three adoring daughters: Tracy Yitzhaky of Maryland, Lindsey (Jonathan) Isaacson of Pittsburgh, and Abbey (Kenneth) Fagin of Maryland; eight grandchildren: Adam (Davida) Yitzhaky, Daniel Yitzhaky, Sara (Ariel) Trink, Gabriel Isaacson, Aaron Yitzhaky, Gali Isaacson, Rachel Fagin, and Leah Fagin. She was cherished by her sister Fritzie (Ian) Urquhart and four great-grandchildren, and preceded in death by her brother, Edward.
Her family extends love and appreciation for decades of friendship to her family of neighbors on Starkdale Road and to William and Juanita Welsh of Steubenville.
