James Joseph Ferrari, 73 of Paris, PA passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 at his home after bravely struggling with a serious illness for many years.
He was born February 4, 1947 in Weirton, WV. Jim was the son of the late Alfred and Sophie Filak Ferrari. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Mary Verne Ferrari, who were instrumental in raising him.
He was a graduate of McArthur High School in Hollywood, FL. He also attended West Virginia Northern Community College. Jim retired from Weirton Steel Corporation after 40 years. He was grateful for the steel mill and the life it afforded him. Jim married Catherine Johnson in 2004. He began a life with her and her children and grandchildren. The grandchildren loved him unconditionally and he became an important part of their lives. Jim and Cathy lived a life together that they both cherished. Jim loved the Steelers, the Penquins, Pirates, and all sports. He was an avid golfer before he became ill. He previously served as the treasurer of the Weirton Steel golf league.
His wife, Catherine Ferrari, survives him. He loved Ruby, his faithful dog, who provided joy and comfort during his illness. He leaves his stepchildren, Randy Johnson, Jr. and Tonya Pearce, his grandchildren who have wonderful memories of their "Pap" and his two great grandchildren. His sister Robin Brevard also survives him, along with his cousins the Guzzettas, Joseph, Matt, Jimmy, and JoAnn (Babela).
A special thank you to Jim's caretakers who supported Cathy in her determination to keep him home with her during his lengthy illness. Jim was a member of Mercy Baptist Church. Pastor Marlin Hawley, who was Jim's friend and pastor, will perform the services.
