Andrew Prosko Jr.
Andrew “Cab” Prosko, Jr., 87, of Stratton, OH, passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 6, 2017, surrounded by his family at his home.
Cab was born May 28, 1930, in Stratton, son of the late Andrew Prosko Sr. and Anna (Misconish) Prosko.
He retired from the Ironworkers Local 549 in 1986 and went on to work for the Village of Stratton for many more years. Cab also served as a longtime councilman for the village.
Cab was baptized in St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Toronto and he was a 1948 graduate of Toronto High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley “Baba” Prosko, who passed March 26, 2016; and his sister, Elizabeth Scheel.
Cab leaves behind his three sons, Michael B. (Margaret) Prosko of Huntersville, NC, John Mark (Mary Ann) Prosko of Hanoverton, OH, and Charles Andrew (Lora) Prosko of Farmington, WV; his daughter, Andrea J. (Jay) Hale of Richmond, OH; his brother, Joseph “Jeep” (Molly) Prosko of New Somerset, OH; his 10 grandchildren, Patti (Jeff) Corbin, Emile Prosko, Bill (Lauren) Prosko, Andy Prosko, Ruth Prosko, Crissa Daft, Jason (Lori) Daft, and Johnna, Mariah and Farrah Marcino; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 1-6 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A Parastas Service will be held Sunday evening at the funeral home at 6 p.m., led by Rev. Fr. John Kapitan Jr., OFM, from the St. Joseph Byzantine Church in Toronto.
There will be additional viewing on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
Cab’s funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Morning View Cemetery in Irondale, OH.
