Eunice Lincoff

Eunice Lincoff, 82, died on April 19, 2017, in her home in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born in Wheeling, WV, to Jack and Anne Cohen on December 21, 1934.
She moved to Steubenville in 1959 after her marriage to Morton Lincoff, and was an active and respected member of that community throughout her life.
She raised two children and was a committed and dedicated supporter of the Steubenville City Schools, serving on the Jefferson County Board of Education, and later writing a regular weekly column entitled “About Your Schools” for the Herald-Star. She was an energetic founding member of the local theater company, Steubenville Players, directing many productions, and was the first woman to helm a Steubenville Players musical.
With her husband, she managed the family business, Lincoff’s Jewelers, from 1975 until 1986. Later, after earning a bachelor’s degree from Wheeling Jesuit College, Mrs. Lincoff carved out a vital niche in the community by conceiving, designing, and directing the Early Childhood Development program of the Jefferson County Community Action Council (CAC), in which capacity she secured and administered large grants to support Head Start Early Intervention and other childhood programs. After her retirement from CAC, Mrs. Lincoff lent her expertise to numerous other agencies, authoring The History of Family Service Association, Steubenville, Ohio, in 1991, serving as president of the Jefferson County Library Board, Temple Beth Israel, The Academy of Lifelong Learning of the Franciscan University of Steubenville (three terms), as well as helping to implement a local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and numerous fundraising projects for United Way.
In 2003, Mrs. Lincoff earned a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University in West Virginia.
Mrs. Lincoff was preceded in her death by her husband, Morton Lincoff of Steubenville, OH, and sister Jean (Bill) Mucci of Cleveland, OH. She is survived by son Mark Lincoff of Fort Lauderdale, FL, son Michael (Debra) Lincoff, M.D., of Cleveland, OH, daughter Jane Hepner (Leonard Silk) of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Cynthia (Bob) Brocard of Huntington Beach, CA, brother Barry (Marty) Cohen of Findlay, OH, brother Ken (Nancy) Cohen of Findlay, OH, granddaughter Gabrielle (Yissachar) Jerusalem of Cleveland, OH, grandson Aaron (Ariella) Lincoff of Washington D.C., and Jacob Lincoff of New York, N.Y., and great-grandson Kalev Jerusalem of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday April 23, 2017, at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz funeral home at 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, OH.
Interment will be at Beth Shalom Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA, following the service.
Visitation will be at her home in Steubenville, OH, from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
Memorial donations to charity of donor’s choice will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
