STEUBENVILLE -- A Mingo Junction man who was allegedly drunk when he crashed into another vehicle head-on, killing one man and injuring another, was ordered by a Jefferson County grand jury Wednesday to stand trial.
Grand jurors indicted a total of 16 people, among them a Wintersville man charged with raping a child, a Mingo Junction man accused of injuring five juveniles when he allegedly rammed the pickup truck they were in and a woman who allegedly spit in the eyes of police during a domestic violence call in Steubenville.
Matthew Kyle Lee DiLoreto, 28, 25 Moody Dr., Mingo Junction, was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault in connection with the Aug. 15 traffic fatality. Both are felonies.
Ohio State Highway Patrol had reported DiLoreto was eastbound on County Road 10, Smithfield township, when his Silverado failed to negotiate a left curve, traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and crossed the centerline, striking an oncoming vehicle. A passenger in the oncoming vehicle was killed and the driver was injured.

All five teens were injured, with three of them flown by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh.
The teen-aged driver had told police they'd been “ding-dong-ditching” homes in Steubenville before ending up in Mingo Junction with three boys he claimed to not know. Police reported family members had told them Lawrence has a medical issue and had not been taking her prescribed medication.
